Alina Zorkina

I was born in Ukraine, in the city of Alchevsk. At the age of 13 I finished art school. My parents had a fairly active lifestyle as they owned their own business. My mother's time was mostly spent bringing up my sister and I, she was the one who introduced us to a love for dancing, foreign languages and the arts.
For me, it was art that was at the foundation and core of my passions, it naturally navigated it's way into everything I did and was always destined to become my career. I could feel it.

Я родилась в Украине, в городе Алчевске, где и закончила художественную школу в возрасте 13-ти лет. Мои родители занимались бизнесом и вели очень активный образ жизни. Мама также уделяла много времени воспитанию детей (меня и старшей сестры). С самого детства она прививала нам любовь к танцам, иностранным языкам, искусcтву. Это и наложило определённый отпечаток в выборе профессии.

After completing secondary education I was accepted to the University of Luhansk to the faculty of arts. However, after completing my second year I was forced to stop my studies due to my mother moving my sister and I to Australia. There I was presented with many opportunities to develop my artistic skills.

После окончания общеобразовательной школы, я поступила в Луганский Национальный Университет имени Тараса Шевченко, на факультет изобразительного искусства. Но после окончания второго курса я была вынуждена остановить учёбу, в связи с эмиграцией в Австралию, где для меня открылись новые возможности развивать своё творчество.

My teacher George Haidar was my biggest inspiration for my choice and style in art, drawing me in with utter fascination, even away from the other disciplines of art I had developed and loved.
Shortly after my move to Australia I began attending George’s private art school where I continued to study over the next 4 years. He is an incredible artist and a wonderful teacher who can uncover and develop strong skills in his students in a fairly short time.

Свой путь в живописи я уже выбрала, в этом мне помог мой учитель - Джордж Хайдар. В то время, когда я переехала в Австралию, у него была частная школа, в которой я училась 4 года. Это удивительный художник! Он умеет увидеть и за короткое время развить сильные стороны каждого студента.

Art was my hobby for a very long time until my artwork started generating some noticeable interest and selling themselves. Buyers began finding me through exhibitions such as: Camberwell Rotary Art Show, Mornington Art Show and Victorian Artist Society. Some of them call with a request to buy a particular piece, others to order custom made paintings.

Очень долгое время живопись была моим хобби, пока работы не начали продавать сами себя. Покупатели обычно сами меня находят, иногда через выставки, такие как: Camberwell Rotary Art Show, Mornington Art Show, Victorian Artist Society, иногда звонят с предложением купить или заказать картину.

In my work I combine various styles such as: architecture, city, beachside, landscape and many others. It usually takes me around 1 month to complete a painting. However there has been instances where I have worked on a smaller painting for a longer time than a larger piece. It is not the size of the painting that is the indicator for the time spent on the art piece. Everything depends on the current mood and state of being, which is expressed in the work itself. I do not write etudes. Should an inspiration come to me, I like to express it on a big canvas as soon as possible, and then while in the process of producing the art piece I tend to either add or remove some features of the painting.

В своих работах я сочетаю различные стили и жанры, такие как: архитектурный, городской, морской, пейзаж и другие. На каждую работу обычно уходит около месяца. Бывает, что маленькую картину пишу дольше, чем большую. Размер - не показатель времени работы над созданием картины. Все зависит от состояния и настроения, которое хочешь передать. Я не пишу этюды. Когда рождается идея, сразу переношу её на большой холст, потом, в процессе работы, что-то убираю, что-то добавляю.

I tend to listen to myself, my intuition and draw from within. My dream is that every person can recognise their own unique story in my artwork, using the power of feeling, recognition and imagination.

Я всегда прислушиваюсь к самой себе и пишу от души. Хочу чтобы каждый человек, используя свою фантазию, мог увидеть и прочитать индивидуальную, близкую ему историю в моих работах.
