I am from Baku capital of Azerbaijan. Thank God my parents are healthy and live in Baku. I also I have a brother and his family. There are plenty of kind and warm relatives there too. Now, I live in Melbourne. I've lived here over 16 years now. There's lovely expression in English, "Long enough to feel at home in Melbourne".
Я родом из Азербайджана, коренная Бакинка. Слава Богу родители живы и здоровы, живут в Баку, еще у меня в Баку есть брат и его семья. Много родственников, друзей, с которыми у меня теплые отношения. Я в Австралии уже 16 лет, как говорят местные “Long enough to feel home here” («Достаточно долго, чтобы чувствовать себя здесь, как дома»).

Admittedly, the first years were difficult. I was studying, and now have a Degree in Graphic Design. My first job was related to my first Degree as a Textile Designer, I used to work as an antique rugs restorer in Prahran in “Behruz Studio” That is one of best textile Galleries in Australia.
Later on I was employed as a Graphic Designer at “Sensis” Yellow Pages Online. I used to work in the team of designers who were creating Corporate Id’s and Websites for companies all over Australia. Work involved Logo design etc. Some days, we did up to 10-12 logos per day. My previous education in Applied Art and knowledge of ornament was very helpful in those days, Later on I worked as a Graphic Designer and Data Specialist. At this point in my life I began to paint on canvases with acrylic and oil paint after the birth of my first child.
В Первые годы в Мельбурне я училась, и выучилась на графического дизайнера. Хотя в начале устроилась на работу по моему первому образованию: художник по текстилю - и проработала, как реставратор антикварных ковров в Районе Прахран (Prahran) в “Behruz Studio”, в одной из лучших текстильных галерей Австралии.
Потом устроилась на работу в “ Sensis”, как графический дизайнер. Делала вебсайты и корпоративные идентификаторы для компаний, быстро создавала логотипы, иногда в день по 10-12.. очень помогало мне в этом мое предыдущее образование – художник по текстилю и орнаменту. А живописью занялась после рождения первого ребенка.
I participated in a group exhibition a number of times with fellow Russian Female Artists around Melbourne. The most memorable included “The Steps” Gallery in Carlton. Now I regularly participate in Exhibitions around the Mornington Peninsula, as well as Solo exhibitions.
Painting, for me is spontaneous. It is something I do in one go. An example is “Geelong Boats” which is on 4 separate canvases. I was painting a panel each day. It was sold to a private collector here in Melbourne.
I painted a self-portrait when I was in an inspirational and motivated mood, selling straight away. When I am not cheerful, I can’t paint, it simply doesn’t happen. I do sketches too, never seeing the finished idea in my dreams. It evolves, as I work.
Несколько раз выставлялась с Русскоговорящими художниками в Мельбурне. Регулярно принимаю участие в выставках в различных галереях Мельбурна. Было 3 персональные выставки.
Процесс рождения картины происходит по разному.. например эту картину, я хотела рисовать 10 лет назад, а нарисовала только в прошлом году и изначально не видела гранат в моем воображении… потом пришло ко мне, как символ любви.. Что-то удается на одном дыхании, как моя картина из 4-х полотен “Geelong Boats”,каждый день одно полотно заканчивала… она сейчас в частной коллекции в Мельбурне… Или, однажды , нарисовала себя.. была в гениальном настроении.. работу сразу купили. Когда мне не весело, я не могу рисовать. .. не идет.
I started to draw at the age of 15. Within a competitive environment I managed to get through to the State Art University in the Department of Applied Art (Artistic Weaving). I refer to my time at the University as my "Golden Years". Study came easy to me, and I gained a great deal of pleasure from my experience of creating and learning under the mentorship and instruction from acclaimed teachers, including Arif Azizov, Letif Kerimov, Eldar Mikayilov.
Рисовать я начала в 15 лет. Поступила на отделение Художественное Ткачество, на факультет Декоративно-Прикладного искусства, закончила с отличием. Институтские годы вспоминаю с большой любовью! Ведь у меня были замечательные педагоги: Ариф Азизов, Летиф Керимов, Эльдар Микаилов.
I was eager to learn, and had a lot of enthusiasm towards creating beauty. Before I graduated University I started to work as an ornament and rug design artist at “Azerkhalcha” company under supervision (leadership) of Kamil Aliyev, That same year I became a member of young Azerbaijani Artists Union. I participated regularly at exhibitions as a Textile designer, at the same time, I was also showing my watercolour and graphic art works. Both were passions of mine in exploring different mediums for expression.
Еще до завершения университета я начала работать в компании «Азерхалча», как художник орнаменталист под руководством Кямиля Алиева. Стала членом Союза Художников, принимала участие в выставках, как художник по текстилю и акварелист, выставляла свои графические, проработанные тушью работы.
Before I came to Australia, I worked at the State Carpet Museum of Azerbaijan in a department where I was in charge of maintenance and scientific analysing of rugs. I was surrounded by Inexhaustible richness of colours, inimitable in its beauty, interlacement of patterns, flight of artistic fantasy and consummate skill- that is the essence of an Azerbaijani carpet! As a textile designer I had a great opportunity not only be able to see antique Azerbaijani rugs in exposition but also in archives of the museum. The experience was life changing. I used to work with Karabakh rugs. In that time, I started to write Science Work about Azerbaijani flat-woven carpets, special carpet sacks and textile accessories under supervision and great support of K. Aliyeva.
До приезда в Австралию в Баку проработала в Музее Ковра, в отделе хранения старинных ковров. Неисчерпаемое богатство красок, неповторимое сплетение узоров, полет творческой фантазии и высокое мастерство – вот , что такое Азербайджанский ковер.
Это была потрясающая возможность видеть ковры не только те, что в экскурсионных залах, но и в Архивах Музея… Я работала с Карабахскими Коврами. Начала писать диссертацию про ковровые изделия Азербайджана под руководством Кюбры Алиевой.
I also taught Artistic weaving to the children at Children Art Gallery. My students had two combined exhibitions of their hand woven small miniature textile artworks from very simple ones to most complicated. I thoroughly enjoyed working with children, even though it took great patience to teach them to weave kilims, sumach’s and pile rugs, As you know weaving is great for children’s development., not just in aesthetics, but in fine motor development and hand eye-coordination.
Так же я попробовала себя в роли учителя, преподавала художественное ткачество детям. Мои ученики имели 2 групповые выставки собственноручно сотканных ковровых изделий и полотен в разной технике (от килима до ворсовых ковриков). Это была любимая работа, я с удовольствием и большим терпением учила деток , как плести килимы, сумахи и ворсовые коврики. Это изумительная тренировка детской моторики.
During that time I also started to have requests for having my own design from customers and art lovers, It was more and more work. I was working and designing only by orders. I made few rugs with Portrait composition in medallion (Private collections, Azerbaijan), Another example, was a designed composition “Paradise Tree with birds” (Norway), woven textile, Some unique in their colour and design composition featured in hand bags (private collections in Italy, USA, Norway, France, Germany, Japan, Australia etc), Woven Tapestry “To the light” (France).Before s coming to Australia I had a Solo Exhibition of my artworks
В это же время пришел успех и признание, появились заказы на мои авторские работы, состоялась персональная выставка... Особый успех имели ковры с портретной композицией (они сейчас хранятся в частных коллекциях города Баку), «Райское дерево» (в Норвегии), другие работы, включая сумки, гобелен, сейчас находятся по всему миру, в Италии, США, Франции, Германии, Японии, и конечно, Австралии.
I have been to Baku as my family still lives there. It's always happy reunion. When I think about Azerbaijan, the first thoughts that come to mind are...my Mum, the 2000 year old city of Baku and the beautiful blue of the Caspian Sea. That is my Motherland. It evokes memories of Karabakh, Pomegranates, and the tastiest Figs in the world! It is where my grandparents were laid to rest and a place that connects my children to their heritage. This is our roots.
Моя семья живет в Азербайджане, поэтому мои приезды, это такое теплое воссоединение с семьй… Когда я думаю о Доме, первые мысли.. Мама, город Баку с 2000-тысячелетней историей, голубой Каспий. Это моя Родина. Это Карабах, это гранаты и самый вкусный инжир в мире! Это земля, в которой покоятся мои дедушки и бабушки, это место, где мои дети воссоединятся с нашими корнями
Painting for me is the fastest way to express myself. It is spontaneous compared to the detail and technical skills required for weaving. Weaving in textiles is very time consuming, even small pieces are very labour intensive. I have been involved in creating the traditional Russian head dress, called "Kakoshnik" These are elaborated and also very intensified form of design. The end product is well worth it, but compared to painting requires a totally different approach; Sometimes as an artist I need that transformation from reality. Painting for me is happiness. Better than chocolate!
Artworks are not necessities of life as food or medications. They are often seen as a luxury, an embellishment, an indulgence of the mind and senses. For some, art is like food and medicine for the Soul. When I sell artwork honorarium spend for family.
Живопись для меня самый быстрый метод самовыражения, как художника, т.к. текстиль занимает очень много времени… будь это гобелен или ковровый аксессуар. Даже кокошники, которыми я увлекаюсь, занимают намного больше времени… а Живопись – это состояние счастья, трансформация в работу, уход из земной реальности, это лучше, чем шоколад для меня!
Я никогда не ожидаю чтобы работа была быстро продана, но радуюсь, когда это происходит! Значит тот, кто захотел купить картину, прочувствовал ее, увидел в ней что-то приятное, теплое… загорелся желанием ее иметь…
I love life in general. I am a very optimistic person, no matter what! I love to draw and paint to stimulate my mind, excite my imagination. I draw a flowers, birds, love, portraits, and ocean-sea. I love to draw and paint ornamental compositions, still-life, pomegranates….I love to paint vulnerable and touchy affairs between men and women, nature, birch trees, sky…
Я люблю жизнь! Закоренелый оптимист, не смотря ни на что! Люблю рисовать то, что волнует, будоражит, вдохновляет.. рисую цветы, птиц, любовь, отношения, портреты, море-океан, люблю орнамент, гранаты, березы и небо…
